About a month and a half ago, while planning an event, I stumbled upon this charming gelato shop. With its clean design and bright red accents, Pinolo Gelato stands out in the neighborhood. Despite its small size, Pinolo Gelato is incredibly inviting. We chose a window seat and enjoyed a lovely view of a bike-friendly area filled with shops—a perfect spot to relax.
Visiting with friends, I had the chance to try gelato for the first time. Pinolo offers over seven flavors and is generous with samples! We had a blast tasting each one and picking our favorites. The gelato was tangy, sweet, and honestly better than regular ice cream.
The Ordering Process at Pinolo Gelato in Portland: A Step-by-Step Guide
- Enter the Shop: Upon entering, you’ll likely find a line of customers ready to order.
Choose Your Size: Pinolo Gelato offers three sizes: small, medium, and large. I found the medium size (priced around $5-$6) to be perfect, allowing you to select three flavors. For the more adventurous, you can opt for a larger size or even a pint to take home.
Browse the Flavors: There is a large glass display showcasing the available flavors, much like a traditional ice cream parlor.
Ask for Samples: The friendly gelato artisans are more than happy to guide you through the flavors and offer generous samples.
Make Your Selections: Once you’ve decided, let the staff know your choices. If the names are tricky to pronounce, you can simply describe the colors of your flavors instead—this is what I did!
Head to the Cashier: After making your selections, proceed to the cashier to complete your order.
Our group spent about an hour and a half chatting inside the shop, but you can easily pop in for a quick 10-15 minute visit if you’re on the go. It’s a fantastic spot for families or children to enjoy gelato, whether you choose to stay in the shop or stroll around the charming neighborhood filled with shops.
Overall, my experience at Pinolo Gelato was fantastic. The shop’s inviting design and delicious gelato make it a must-visit, and they also cater to dietary restrictions.
